Dear Fab friends and founders, sending Californian good vibes to all of you!

We had a Founders’ breakfast hosted by Odile Roujol and Camille Çabale in Hermosa Beach, and the first API Beauty Summit hosted by Metaprosper, and coordinated with the help of David Yi, founder of Goodlight world.

THE FIRST API BEAUTY SUMMIT: “Change comes from the collective”. David Yi Founder of GoodLightWorld.

This week we were excited to be participating in the first-ever API Beauty Summit sponsored by @metaprosper x @instagram as well as Very Good Light.

On stage, founders, industry leaders, retailers, and creators.

We will quote David Yi, author of Pretty Boys and founder of GoodLightWorld beauty line:

As an advocate and activist for our communities and beyond, holding space for those who look like us as been a lifelong journey. It’s not overnight that you see change, rather small shifts that become seismic later. From being told I didn’t belong, that I wasn’t beautiful, that I wasn’t powerful, to now being the CEO and co-founder of Ulta’s first gender-inclusive beauty brand, it’s been humbling to witness.

But change comes from the collective. It’s from the tears shed along the way that make everything so clear. It’s from the sweat that drips from our brows as we work tirelessly to uplift generations of folx who’ve never felt as if they fit in. It’s from blood of our ancestors who long fought for this moment for us to find visibility. It’s from all of us. Being a proud Korean American in beauty means that I can allow my younger self to finally feel vindicated.

We have arrived. We are here. And we’re going no where.”

THE FOUNDERS’ BREAKFAST: “Yes, I wake up thinking cash-flow, but I’m excited by our new products and exclusive retailers partnerships”

Arjun Sampath, founder of Soma Ayurvedic.

The Take-Away, we will quote the founder of Minu Skincare, Christina Koppinger:

. ✨📈growth and TikTok: only if done well, continues to be a huge driver of revenue for brands over Meta platforms. However, many brands (both very large and small) have yet to be able to crack the algorithm. Consumers trust people over brands and love educational materials and behind the scenes on the creation of the products.

. 🛍️Retail partnerships: especially with those who stand for a higher standard of clean and sustainable living like Credo Beauty and Detox Market, continue to be a very strategic walk before run approach before taking on larger distribution via Sephora or Ulta.

  • 🫶🏾🙌💪🏽💪🏽 Community: thoroughly enjoyed being with a group of super passionate beauty founders, who all share the same hopes and challenges when it comes to building their brands. That is truly a key aspect of community, being able to be amongst those who can empathize with you, and support you, and contribute to your sense of belonging.
